Wearing White While the World Watches”. The colourful yet clean pack from Nike fuels the excitement for the World Cup 2018.
in just over month we’ll all be screaming at our Tv’s urging our countries to play like their lives depend on it. This year however, Nike players from every country will wear something a little different.. Nike deliver the first jab in the battle of the just do it boots, as we lead up to this year’s World Cup campaign in Russia.
Releasing a month before the opening game between Russia and Saudi Arabia, Nike come with a refreshing look on their 4 silos. Using their trademark ‘Just Do It’ slogan, the pack was designed to complement the colours of the national team kits, ensuring they stand out with a clean look and subtle flashes of colour, on the swoosh but most noticeably the soleplate.
On the topic of soleplates, Nike have absolutely smashed it with premium finishes for each of the 4 boots. The Mercurial comes in Total Orange, Hypervenom in Volt, Magista in Bright Crimson and finally a Blue Hero hue is used on the plate of the ever so classy Tiempo.
A new addition that I’m a big fan of is the triangle that can be seen on the heel counter of each boot. It features 32 lines, representing each country at the tournament and players have the ability to display the flag of their nation, making their boots even more personal to them!
To compliment their national team colours, all Nike players will play with white boots, which I’m guessing won’t stay white for too long..
The clean crisp white upper features a matte pearlescent skin and metallic cool grey swoosh, the perfect combination. One striking element on the new boots are the new premium plates. Each silo has a different finish, Total Orange (Mercurial 360), Volt (Hypervenom), Bright Crimson (Magista) and Blue Hero (Tiempo).
Featured on every heel counter is a triangle with 32 lines, each line representing the 32 countries taking part in the tournament. All Nike players will have the option of populating that triangle with a graphic representing their country’s flag is a bold display of national pride. A nice touch from Nike.
